What You Can Learn
The Society for UAP Studies has started a lecture series covering various topics related to contemporary UAP science. Topics are mostly concerned with advancing methodology and the philosophy of science. You can watch them here on youtube. Experts in their respective fields, ranging from philosophy of mind to social sciences give presentations on destinct topics. Each providing thought provoking ideas for how to progress UAP studies.
Review Of The Current Lectures
Without a doubt it can be said, that the lecture series is both interesting and informative. Albeit being technical sometimes. For the average, not-educated viewer, the terminology some lecturers use may stirr confusion or even frighten them. However, for the most part the presenters do their best to explain as much as possible. The lecture series is dedicated for people of all backgrounds. However, a tendency towards scientists and philosophers in particular is noticable.
What is notable is the multi-perspective approach. Different lecutrers provide a distinct take on a respective subject, allowing for the viewers to participate in the discussion towards the end. Viewers are welcome to ask questions and voice their opinion. Despite the occasional technical difficulty, the topics are a refreshing take on the usual digital discourse with regards to UAP. In fact "disclosure" is not a primary subject.
The seminar series aims to move beyond the notion of "ufology". Some lectures cover UAP reporting and related topics, but are strictly from a perspective of social science, psychology or related. Instead of looking at individual cases, discussions are more broad. General developments, patterns and empirical approaches are discussed. It becomes quickly apparent that the scientific study of UAP is changing. Not just more accepted within academia but also methodologically. As new perspectives join the game, new approaches are being tested. Driving thorough and most certainly methodologically sound research. Studies that are not quick on interpretation. But instead consider the nuances and the limits of one's approach.
Summary
All in all the SUAPS Seminar Series is a recommendation. Not just for academics looking to broaden their horizon and who are interested in studying UAP and related. But also for the curious minded citizen. Who is hoping to contribute. However, you may want to buy a membership in the Society For UAP Studies, as future seminars are supposed to be for members only. It remains unclear when a paywall will go up. As the scientific study of UAP remains niche and funding is rare, a membership may be the only opportunity for now to support further methodological developments.
