The Information We Collect

By principle no personal data is collected. Content is offered as is and can be readily consumed. Browsers may collect user information and deliver it to 3rd parties, in which case no connection exists to the website that is being visited.

Information that may be collected is of the following kind:

Name (full, partial or alias)
Contact info (E-Mail address, telephone number)
Professional background (basic information)
Profile picture showing the face

Last 2 types of personal information are only related to the submission of article proposals as detailed on the 'submit' page. Sharing such information is optional. If you submit an article or otherwise decide to contact the provide of this website, you have the option to do so completely anonymous. This includes use of a throw-away or anonymous E-Mail address, use of a pseudonym, and no disclosure of other personal information if that is desired.

For profile pictures as used in the "Author Card" at the end of an article page, one can request the use of a place holder image. Additionally you can request to be represented by the editor. In which case no personal information is required and displayed.

Newsletter Subscription

The service used for providing a newsletter is yet to be selected. You are to be redirected to the website of the service provider when subscribing to the newsletter. Regarding data privicy there, check out the respective data privicy policy of the newsletter service provider.

Cookies

This website only uses essential cookies that are required to provide functionality of the service. Cloudflare, the hosting provider of this website, serves many tracking and analytics options that run server-side and may impact the privacy of a visitor. Only anti-bot cookies are active on this website. These are used to prevent scrapping of the content for use in AI training. Opting Out

As by default no personal information is collected, there is no need for opting out. You can use an Ad-Blocker or other browser extension to further anonymize your user browser profile. We can readily disclose to you the information we have collected on you. In this case use the contact information as stated above.

Data Retention

As part of the creation and delivery of news and blog-like content, that may involve 3rd parties or content submitted from readers and other 3rd parties, any information as provided to the editor during that process is retained until the respective content is delivered or an objection is filed.

Data collected during such content development and delivery process is retained for 3 months and deleted after. Information that is shared via E-Mail correspondence is stored on secured servers in Germany. The responsible service provider is Tutao GmbH (Tutanota). They are responsible for the data security with regard to their E-Mail servers.
